Monday training.

Well its been a funny day, the weather was a lot better and my motivation seems to be lifting along with my health. Along with my approx 30min each way cross town commute, i made the most of the sunshine to put in a couple of hours easy tempo after work.

Monday tempo ride

Not bad really 3hrs of riding and a day of work. I'm still debating renewing my gym membership to do some strength training, but seeing as for now i spend the days underpinning a house i think strength training is not really an issue, if anything my upper body is getting too big! I've put on around 8lbs in the last few weeks but my waist line remains the same (its a hard life) I could use a body composition test really to keep track of things.

For now I'm content that I'm getting back on track after a few slack weeks and a few beer binges, But hey come on it was the off season right!

Secondary check up at hand clinic.

This morning I had my secondary follow up at the hand clinic three weeks after my accident down-town.

I got the all clear to remove the splint and start working on the mobility of the finger.

Which at the moment is pretty limited, I don't have much flex in it and its still pretty sore, but its the next step to recovery.

Who knows soon i might even be able to use the brakes again!

Ross Rader completes Furnace Creek 508

Congrats to Ross Rader who finished the Furnace Creek 508 last night

Not content with his earlier world record breaking cross Ontario ride, Ross just completed the invitational race through some pretty tough conditions....
(508 miles in just under 40 hours against huge winds, sandstorms and
lots of climbing). Great job Ross!

i should at least be able to drag myself out for a spin from time to time. I'm looking forward to our up coming "hair-shirt" ride together to Niagara falls and back later this month

Base begins with coffee and muffins (of course)

Ok so its started after a very late breakfast (about 4pm to be truthful) i took a spin to the beaches and around the spit.

I'm still only 3 weeks into recovery on the double fracture i got after being taken out by a taxi door down-town, and on top of that I've been skirting the edge of the flu all my work mates have come down with lately.

heres what i did

a very gentle ride intermingled with coffee and muffins....go team ChainReaction!!! 2010 here I come....slowly

Reasons to be motivated pt.1

Ok so here we go! Fall is upon us, summers heat and motivation is on the wain and I'm trying get geared up for a long winter of base training.

hopefully by posting all my highs and lows here for the world or at least myself to see. I'll be able to keep it all together until the season starts next April!.

anyway its started well, a broken index finger, the lingering feeling I'm about to get the flu bug that's been haunting all my work mates, and a greasy burger washed down by some motivational reading and a labats'50. Shit it tastes like water so it can't be that bad right?

but I did managed to drag myself out for a gentle spin to the beaches and spit in the afternoon.

so its not a complete washout right?

wish me luck!!!
